When the world is bright and seems so new,
My mind still wanders back to you.
I dream of days we left behind,
And wonder if you read my mind…
Can you see me when my tears fall?
Can you hear my silent call?
Everything I have, everything I feel,
Is made real in every line, so surreal.
And your old message that I still keep,
Is a promise buried deep.
I read it underneath the night,
And for a moment, things feel right.
My love, I lost my way,
The day your light was swept away.
But like a star that’s shining through,
The memory of your touch feels true.
I’ll keep it safe, this faded page,
Even though you’re far from sight,
You are my everlasting light.
A single rose within my heart,
You were the one, set apart.
Destined to leave, no one knows,
The hollow ache your parting grows.
All that remains to hold me tight,
Your scribbled words in fading light.
The messages of your sweet love,
A gift from someplace up above.
